THE Ibadan Youth Progressive Indigenes Association (IYPIA), has said that late Dr Lekan Are will remain unforgettable in the minds of Ibadan Indigenes especially youths as the business tycoon served as one of their role models.
IYPIA in statement by its Publicity Secretariat Comrade Akindele Alabi Ibrahim-Olore and signed by its President General, comrade Mudashiru Kamorudeen Keji said late Are was a legend who required to be celebrated due to his contributions to the development of the Ibadan and Oyo state.
” Dr Are, founder of Kakanfo Inn, who died at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan in the early hours of Saturday at aged 86 was not only a man that lived with integrity, he is a tenacious man, his upbeat spirit has helped him to carve a niche for himself in the society during his live time “.
” IYPIA have lost a legend that never celebratedby the association. His love for youths brought alive IYPIA the first youth indigenous association of Ibadan youths, late Are mental and physical contributions towards establishment and running of Ibadan youth association was immense”.
Ibadan youth further described Dr. Are as a renowned Agronomist, said he performed excellently well as pinoeer chairman of Ogun – Oshun River Basin.
” Oyo state and Ibadan may miss you, but Ibadan youths will miss you more. It is a pity your intelligent and brilliancy to success can’t be transfered, an epitome of success has gone. Adeu Baba”.
