How Alhaji Ojolowo Re-empowered Me When I had Lost Everything – Olopoeyan
A Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Alhaji Abdul-Rasheed Adebisi Olopoeyan has paid a tribute to Alhaji Mustapha Sanusi Ojolowo on his demise, explained how the late philanthropist from Ibarapa re-engineered his collapsed business over 20 years ago.
The tribute and how late Ojolowo helped him was contained in statement personally signed by Olopoeyan on Monday evening in Ibadan.
According to Olopoeyan, he said Alhaji Mustapha Sanusi Ojolowo had gone but his good deeds will always remember forever.
While explaining how he met late Alahaji Ojolowo and how the Muslim scholar rescued his business, he said, he is yet to meet such a generous giver.
“Alhaji Ojolowo re-empowered me when I lost everything.
“ I was the first licensed phones and SIMs ( MTN and Econnet ) dealer in Oyo state, I sells brand new phones with SIM cards, customers comes from all places to buy phone and SIM from me. I had my ware-house at Akinloye Complex, Basorun, Ibadan. It was at the time I met Alhaji Ojolowo, he is one of the trusted Hajj and Ummurah Travel agents, he do travel a lot, so anytime he travelled overseas, he will buy phones for me to sell and I will remit him his money after sold.
“ In 2001, my ware-house was burgled, all phones stolen, included all the phones Alhaji gave me to sell for him, everything gone in the twinkle of an eye.
“Days after when I met Alhaji Ojolowo, i narrated my ordeal, with the hope to bargain with him how I will be refunding his own phone’s money, all he said was, it is ok, he asked me to get into his car and drove me to Trans-International Bank ( TIB ), defunct now, when we got there, he ordered his bank officer to give me N1 Million , a very high money then, he told me to add it up again to the business, I though it was a loan, but, Alhaji Ojolowo never collect a dime back. Such gesture was afavour I will never forget in life.
“ late Alhaji Ojolowo is a kind hearted man during his lifetime, a trusted Muslim scholar and a cheerful giver. It painful we lost someone like him.
“Oyo state has lost a humanitarian,
“Ibarapa Community has lost a gem,
Muslim community has lost Ulama”. Olopoeyan said
