Faceless Investigative Journalists Defend DIKKO As Oyo Assembly Accuses PTS Chair of Illegal Recruitment, Operations
Some self-claim Investigative Journalists in Ibadan have accused Oyo assembly lawmakers of being political over the given report on the activities of the state-owned Pace Setter Transport Services (PTS).

Gov. Makinde, on July 23, 2023, approved the appointment of Mr Salami Oladeji DIKKO as Chairman and Sole Administrator of the state-owned Pacesetter Transport Service (PTS).
However, during plenary on Wednesday, Oyo lawmakers after receiving a committee report, expressed several concerns, including the lack of a legal framework guiding the operations of PTS.
The house also directed the committee headed by Hon. Babajide Adebayo to go ahead to interface with PTS management and officials with a view to investigating operations of the transport service.
The committee is expected to report back to the house within two weeks

According to the report submitted by Hon. Adebayo’s committee, Salami DIKKO was accused of recruiting 106 additional staff without proper authorization from the state government.
The Oyo state Assembly speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, while giving the stand of the House on the report, instructed the Committee to conduct a thorough investigation into PTS, focusing on staff auditing, operations, and finances, including state government subventions and revenue generation.

Meanwhile, some acclaimed investigative journalists operating under the name “Liberty Championed by the Pen ” on Thursday morning issued a statement to defend Mr. Salami Oladeji DIKKO of the alleged wrongdoing, describing the Oyo assembly committee report as biased and unverified. The said investigative journalists’ response to the House report on PTS as coordinated attacks on Hon. Dikko Salami regarding the company’s operations, saying several accusations charged against the chairman of the Pacesetter transport service were found to be politically sponsored.
The journalists, while clearing the PTS chairman of accusations from the lawmakers, claimed that Salami DIKKO was attacked because of his firmness, transparency, and not being a man of Free-For-All-Largesse.
However, the said Journalists, while reporting on their investigation, to counter the lawmaker’s report, failed to give investigative reports analyzing techniques, such as documents, data, facts, figures, interview reports, as well as undercover work used in carrying out their report.
