Governor Seyi Makinde has clarified that his Government was never misadvised on the matter of dissolution of the past Local Governments and LCDAs leadership elected in controversial circumstances under the immediate past administration.

Featuring on the BCOS live programme, ‘Omituntun 2.0 End of Year Media Chat’, Governor Makinde said the Government had no regrets, as the decision to sack the formal council bosses was taken on the basis of constitutionality.

On the matter of court orders compelling the State Government to pay certain entitlements running into billions of naira to the former Chairmen, the Governor said the ex-council bosses will not get a dime of Oyo State money until the Supreme Court rules on the matter.

He argued that the sacked Local Government Chairmen cannot keep obtaining lower court orders when there is still ongoing litigation at the Supreme Court.

On the Obaship tussle in Oyo town, Governor Makinde said the Government uncovered compromise, corrupt and unwholesome practices on the part of certain elements saddled with the responsibility of supervising the Alaafin selection process.

He said, regarding Obaship institutions across the State, his administration will always insist on due process in the selection of Obas and traditional rulers, irrespective of pressures and attempted manipulations by unscrupulous and influential elements.
