Breaking: Makinde Sends Auxiliary, Other PMS Staff Packing After 3 Years In Office

Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde has announced the dissolution of Oyo State Park Management System (PMS ) headed by Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi.

Makinde dissolved his Executive Council and termination the appointment of all political officeholders with effect from today. Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

The directive of dissolution and termination of appointment by Makinde which was made known through his Chief of Staff to the Governor and Chairman, the Transition & Inauguration Committee, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi affected all the PMS staff in the state, being also government appointees.

Makinde appointed the former factional chairman of the National Union of Road Transports Workers (NURTW) in the state, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, fondly called ‘Auxiliary’, as chairman of the disciplinary committee for the motor parks in the 33 local government areas of the state on 17th February 2020.

Auxiliary led disciplinary committee and the 33 groups of parks managers were inaugurated by the former Commissioner of Public Work, Infrastructure and Transportation, in the state, Prof Raphael Afonja, on behalf of the governor at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Works, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

It will be recalled that the PMS initiatives were made as a radical change from the NURTW architecture as the funds generated by the motor park managers were said to be remitted directly into the account of the state government.

After dissolution, the parks and garages are expected to be under full control by the local governments pending time, the state government will appoint a new substantive chairman of the disciplinary committee for the motor parks in the 33 local government areas of the state.
