The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has recorded a boost in its grassroots support in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State following the declaration of Abdulsalam Hammed Ajibola to contest for the councillorship seat of Ward 9 under the party.
Ajibola formally declared his intention to represent Ward 9 on the platform of the APM during a well-attended gathering of party members and supporters. He pledged to provide quality representation, promote grassroots development and work in the interest of the people if elected.
The event also witnessed the defection of several members of the Accord Party and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the APM, a development party leaders described as a reflection of the growing confidence in the party’s leadership and vision.
Welcoming the new members, the APM Chairman of Ward 9, Ido Local Government, Abiola Ajani described their decision to join the party as a wise political move, assuring them of equal rights and opportunities within the party.
He said the defectors had made the right political choice by aligning with the APM, noting that they had been fully accepted as members of the party.
According to him, the new members would not be discriminated against and would enjoy the same benefits, privileges and opportunities available to existing party members.
The ward chairman urged them to remain committed, loyal and actively participate in party activities to strengthen the APM ahead of future elections.
He also expressed confidence that the growing number of defections into the party reflected increasing public confidence in the APM’s vision and leadership, adding that the party remained committed to building an inclusive and united political platform capable of delivering quality representation and good governance to the people of Ido Local Government.
Ajibola appreciated party leaders and supporters for their confidence in his aspiration, promising to justify their trust through effective leadership, accessibility and a commitment to community development.
