The socio-political movement, Apero Mekunu, has commenced its full-scale public engagement activities with the launch of a radio programme awareness rally across Oluyole and Ona Ara Local Government Areas of Oyo State.
Day one of the rally was marked by high energy, purposeful outreach, and direct engagement with residents, as members of the movement took their message beyond the studio to the streets. The initiative focused on meeting people in their everyday spaces and inviting them into conversations that directly affect their lives and communities.
From the early hours of the day, the Apero Mekunu team visited major junctions, markets, motor parks, and other community hubs, where they explained the objectives of the radio programme. The campaign highlighted the movement’s commitment to giving citizens a voice, promoting civic awareness, and encouraging active participation in shaping the future of their communities.
The rally recorded an impressive level of public interest and interaction. Traders momentarily stepped away from their businesses to listen and share their views, commercial motorcyclists engaged in lively discussions, while young people sought clarity on how the radio programme could help amplify their concerns. Community elders also used the opportunity to highlight key issues they would like addressed on air, including the rising cost of living, community development, and accountability in governance.
Organisers noted that the strong public response reaffirmed the importance of grassroots engagement, stressing that meaningful awareness is built through direct, street-level interactions where citizens feel seen, heard, and valued.
