The Apero Mekunu Movement, a socio-political group dedicated to grassroots advocacy and social justice, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin.

Even though his reign was short, it meant something. Kabiyesi was a symbol of peace and calm strength. From his time in the army to his work in politics and business, he lived a full life of service. He reminded us that leadership is not just about position. It is about showing up for your people with wisdom and humility.
> “We join Ibadan in mourning this big loss, but we also honour a life that stood for unity, culture and dignity. Kabiyesi’s legacy will always be a part of Ibadan’s story and we pray that his family and the good people of Ibadan find comfort at this time. Apero Mekunu stands with you. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
Oba Olakulehin, known for his calm disposition and strong commitment to unity, was a respected figure in Ibadanland, whose reign, though brief, left a lasting impression. His life journey—from military service to political and business leadership—epitomized dedication to community and country.
