The executive Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde has equipped the Oni and Sons Children’s Hospital in Ibadan with
modern State-of-the-Art Power Solutions and Equipment.

The power system upgrade which was facilitated and carried out by the state Ministry of Health is said to be
in line with Governor Seyi Makinde’s dedication to improving healthcare services across Oyo State.

According to the state commissioner for Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi said Oni and Sons Children’s Hospital hospital has undergone essential power system upgrades that will dramatically enhance service delivery and care for its young patients.

She said the children’s hospital has been facing issues with power supply for a while, which made the Ministry of Health collaborate with relevant stakeholders to undertake the task of overhauling the hospital’s power infrastructure.

” A detailed situational assessment of some power facilities at Oni and Sons Children’s Hospital revealed the need for immediate intervention. The previously installed 3 KVA inverter was non-functional, the charge controllers had failed, and there were no batteries in place to power the system. While the hospital had 21 operational solar panels on the roof, the AC/DC circuit breakers and wiring were in a state of disrepair.

” And will also know that reliable electricity is vital for the smooth operation of any healthcare facility, and its significance cannot be overstated at a specialized institution like Oni Memorial Children’s Hospital.

” Medical equipment such as incubators, ventilators, and diagnostic machines require uninterrupted power to function optimally to safeguard the lives of vulnerable children in critical care.

” Also at the hospital, reliable power also needs to support essential services, which include lighting, refrigeration for vaccines and medicines, and information management systems. It is a fact that he inconsistent power supply can delay treatment, compromise patient care, and put lives at risk.

Lithium Battery Installation: A new lithium battery, backed by a five-year warranty and a ten-year guarantee, was fitted to ensure the sustainability of the hospital’s power supply.

Replacement of Circuit Breakers and Cables: the commissioner said, outdated and damaged circuit breakers and cables were replaced with new ones to ensure safety and efficiency.

Upgraded Lighting in Ward 1: Four solar-compatible ceiling lights were said to have been installed in Ward 1 to improve visibility and ensure smooth operations at night.

The Commissioner said the project was completed to a high standard, ensuring that the most vulnerable members of society, our children, are given the best possible care.
