A political group, Seyi Makinde Beyond 2027 (SMB27), has urged thr Executive Governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde, not to backtrack on the promise he made in rolling out more appointments soon.

The Oyo PDP group, in a released statement signed by its coordinator, Hon. Wahabi Ismaeel, and made available to Westerndailynews.com, praised the governor for being a distinguished leader and a man of his word.

He urged the governor not to forget to roll out additional appointments as promised a few weeks ago.

Recall that Governor Seyi Makinde, who attended an empowerment programme facilitated by member representing Ibadan Northeast/SouthEast in the House of Representatives, Abass Adigun Agboworin, for his constituents, had made it public that he would roll out more appointments not later than six days from the day of the event.

He equally added that his administration will complete all appointments on or before May 29th, 2024.

Makinde made the promise on March 23, however, the ultimatum of six days promised by the governor had elapsed, running into weeks.

The group, therefore, called on the governor to, once again, confirm what he is known for as a promise-keeper by fulfilling its promise in no time.

According to Seyi Makinde Beyond 2027 (SMB27), Governor Seyi Makinde’s outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the state in the last five years has been irrevocably acknowledged.

The statement read, “We appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for his continued grooming and mentoring of many of us to become great leaders at the State and grassroots.

“If it were to be practicable, we would have been preparing ourselves to go court to secure an order to extend his tenure beyond 2027 as Oyo state governor because he has been a blessing to us in Oyo state.

“We also appreciate and praise Governor Seyi Makinde for always living above board in terms of keeping to his promises to the people it is very difficult to find leaders holding political offices or positions of authority keeping to their promises to the people they lead. We know our governor as a man of his word since he became a rallying point for all in the state.

“In the light of this, we would like to remind Governor Seyi Makinde not to forget the appointments he promised to roll out to his party members in the state, as all are looking forward to the promise.

“Governor Makinde on March 23, promised to roll out Appointments within the following six days, for some party members in a bid to reward loyal party members and will make sure he completed his second term administration’s appointment on or before May 29, 2024.

“The six days ultimatum by His Excellency had elapsed and now two weeks after. Having known our governor to be a promise keeper, we believe, it is either His Excellency has forgotten he made the promise at a programme or has made an effort to put more on the list for appointment. However, we are using this message to remind our governor on his promise made and urge him to role out the said appointments as soon as it can be, in order to meet up the expectation of his loyalists. This is because everyone believes that reward awaits every dedicated and loyal party member.”
