OYHA Questions Activities Of Real Estate Agents

The State House of Assembly has called on the executive arm of government through ministry of lands, housing and urban development to regulate the activities of real estate Agents to safeguard unsuspecting customers against fraud and exploitation in the state.

The house made the call following a motion moved by the leader of the House, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin at the floor of the house.

According to the mover of the motion, Hon. Adedoyin, the fraudulent activities of unscrupulous estate agents and seemingly licensed developers against accommodation seekers are a rife menace in the State.

The Speaker Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin and other lawmakers in their separate contributions also expressed concern that some estate developers are constructing estates around mining sites.

The lawmakers said the real estate regulatory authority should come up with laudable requirements that will regulate real estate transactions in the state and protect residents from unscrupulous real estate agents or practitioner.

After extensive deliberations on the motion, the house urged the executive arm of government to stop the activities of estate agent that are constructing buildings around mining and quarry sites.

The house also urged the Association of Estate Agents in Nigeria to call to order its members with a view to putting sanity into the profession and ending fraudulent practices among its members.
