Oyo Sports Commissioner, Wasilat Cheers Athletes As Oyo Wins First Gold In Asaba
The Oyo state youth and sports commissioner, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke on Monday evening sent a congratulatory message to the state athletes after winning their first gold medal at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Asaba.
Hon. Wasilat who announced the first medal for Oyo state through is X handle on Monday evening hailed the athletes and charged them for more medals.
Ajibade Ibrahim struck the first gold for the pacesetter state in the 10km male individual time trial in Cycling.
According to reports, Ibrahim Ajibade crossed the finish line in 16mins:18.9secs to edge out Lagos and Kaduna who finished in 2nd and 3rd place.
Oyo State’s Cycling coach, Akinola Oluwaseyi said all of the hard work had finally paid off but stressed the team will not rest on its oars.
Ibrahim Ajibade will next be in action on Wednesday when the 30km male Criterion Elimination event takes place.
