There seems more trouble for the People’s Democratic Party presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar in Oyo state, as governor Seyi Makinde’s loyalists, party executives, all the three senatorial and 14 House of Representatives candidates failed to show up for Atiku Freedom walk, organized by some leaders of the party.

Thou, the state Governor, Seyi Makinde, and his loyalists were conspicuously absent at the pre-Atiku Freedom Walk press conference for Atiku Abubakar, held at the state Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Tuesday but party members have assumed the state party excos and candidates who are going into the national election with Atiku on the 25th of February will be on the ground to light up the walk.

The Freedom Walk, which was organized by former minister for Special Duties Elder Wole Oyelese, Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, former deputy governor Hazeem Gbolarumi, Engr. Femi Babalola was said to have been staged, purposely to address PDP supporters and others on why they should mobilize and vote for Atiku and other party candidates in the coming general elections but all the candidates, including House of Assembly hopefuls, were conspicuously absent.

Through findings, Westerndailynews.com scooped from one of the aides of a senatorial candidate that, all the candidates going along with Atiku to the election were not in support of governor Makinde being among the G-5 but all living with the fear of the unknown.

At the rally, aside from state excos, party candidates, prominent PDP party leaders were also absent, it was later learned that governor Seyi Makinde holds down many party leaders who have the interest to attend the Atiku Walk with an impromptu meeting, summoned by the governor at the state house in Ibadan.

A source who spoke to Westerndailynews.com at the Mapo, venue of the rally said, Seyi Makinde intentionally blocked his loyalists from attending the Freedom Walk for Atiku.

” It is true that PDP is divided again in our state and it is our governor that caused it. He doesn’t want Atiku and trying every means to stop all party members from campaigning for the presidential candidate of the party, but most party members did not agree, he can only hold his loyalists to ransom if he likes, but people you are seeing here are party loyalists, not governor Makinde’s loyalists.
