The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East local government area of Oyo State, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, has commended the state Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, for his landmark achievement in the infrastructure upgrade of the state.

Akintayo gave the commendation while speaking to journalists after the commissioning of the dualized 8.2km Agodi Gate–Old Ife road–Alakia–Adegbayi junction including the Onipepeye underpass bridge.

He stressed that the construction of the Underpass Bridge has terminated the risk of flood in the axis as a result of the quick intervention of the governor.

The council chair, who described Governor Makinde as a serious-minded leader, noted that the governor’s action has once again proven that the People’s Democratic party-led government in Oyo state is leaving no stone unturned to impact positively on the lives of the people of the state.

Akintayo further explained that such people-oriented projects and initiatives must be commended and supported by everyone in the state.

“It is glaring that Governor Makinde is determined to deliver all his promises. He has continued from where he stopped in Omititun 1.0. Our governor is making sure all his projects bring more dividends of democracy closer to the people.

“Myself and my people in Ibadan Northeast local government are direct beneficiaries of the newly commissioned road.

“Agodi Gate to Old Ife road and underpass bridge at Onipeye is within our jurisdiction. So, such a project will surely boost the economic activities in the area, and the standard of living of our people.

“In the past, flooding had led to the loss of lives and the destruction of properties worth billions of Naira around the Onipepeye area. But now, Governor Seyi Makinde’s government has come to the rescue of the residents and motorists, thereby putting a stop to the disaster.

“He has expanded the road with double lanes and constructed an underpass bridge for easy access for the users. All these are, no doubt, the lasting solution to the perennial flooding in the Onipepeye area. That is to tell you how much we appreciate this project.”

“So, we say a big thank you to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde for the work done and we promise to support and key into the Omititun 2:O objectives”, Akintayo said.
