559 Apply for Oyo Youth Parliament as Sorting Stage Commences

The application window for the 3rd Youth Parliament Assembly has officially closed, recording a total of 559 submissions from young aspirants across the state, signaling strong interest in youth participation in governance and leadership.
The Oyo State Government, through the State Agency for Youth Development, has confirmed that the next phase of the process, known as the sorting of applicants, is underway.

In a statement released to the newsmen on Wednesday, this stage involves an initial review and categorisation of entries to ensure they meet the basic eligibility requirements before proceeding to full screening.
Following the sorting phase, a comprehensive screening exercise will be conducted to assess applicants based on stipulated criteria, including leadership potential, community engagement, and overall suitability for parliamentary representation.
However, after screening, applicants are expected to proceed to the subsequent stages of the programme, which will be released by the committee in charge.
The Youth Parliament initiative is designed to nurture future leaders by providing a platform for young people to engage in democratic processes, develop policy ideas, and contribute meaningfully to societal development.

Stakeholders have lauded the high number of entries, describing it as a testament to the growing enthusiasm among youths to take active roles in governance and decision-making.
