Iwere-ile Killings: Allow Love, Unity, Peaceful Coexistence In Iwajowa LG

The Sabiganna of Iganna Kingdom and Permanent Chairman, Traditional Council in Iwajowa Local Government, Area of Oyo State, HRM Oba Saliu Oyemonla Azeez, Agunloye IV has appealed to all regardless of tribes at the local council area and beyond to allow love, unity and peaceful coexistence to rule over acrimony and sentiment.

Oba Oyemonla’s statement of peace is coming in connection with the crisis that ensued between the farmers and Fulanis on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Apakolo in Iwere-ile and which eventually led to loss of lives.

The Monarch who chairs and speaks on behalf of the council of the traditional rulers in Iwajowa LG said, it was important to note that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria allows freedom of movement and association but it becomes imperative to sound the warning that the settlers regardless of tribes, religions and other dichotomies should henceforth live within the confinement of the law.

He maintained that the local government and its indigenes value and cherish aliens no matter their sources, but they should not in any responsible for orchestration of violence, brutal killings and consistent bloodbath.

Oba Oyemonla lamented that the recent crisis that occurred between farmers and Fulani Herders was worrisome and disheartening, that the whole community and its environs were in a state of perplex and fear.

He called on youths, farmers, Fulanis and other concerned quarters to sue for peace for the sake of humanity and purpose that triggers our existence on earth.

The monarch reiterated that, there are rooms for settlers regardless of races, sources, and religions to live but should live in line with the dictate of law, hence any one caught violating the laid down procedures calling for peace will henceforth face the wrath of the law.

He said, “on the whole, no meaningful development in the absence of peace, and Iwajowa local government is in dire need of socio-economic development. All hands must therefore be on deck to make Iwajowa attractive to both Government and private investors and no sacrifice is much to sustain peace and as we abstain from spreading unfounded rumours and bitterness”.
