Pensioners in Oyo State have commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his administration’s continued commitment to inclusive healthcare, as they benefitted from the ongoing Omituntun Free Health Mission which is rounding up its first quarter for 2025 tomorrow with Civil/Public servant.

The medical outreach, held at the Pensioners’ House, Agbarigo, Ibadan, provided comprehensive and cost-free medical services to retired citizens as part of the phased rollout of the health initiative across all local government areas of the state. The program has been tailored to reach various demographic groups, including the elderly, persons with disabilities, and civil servants.

The event witnessed a large turnout of pensioners, many of whom expressed deep appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a reflection of Governor Makinde’s compassionate and responsive leadership.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) in Oyo State, lauded the governor for prioritizing the welfare of retirees. He highlighted the administration’s consistent payment of pensions, the enrollment of pensioners in the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) scheme, and the sustained health interventions as evidence of good governance.

“Unlike past administrations that neglected the health needs of the elderly, this government has shown genuine concern. We are particularly grateful for the free health outreach and the access to affordable care through OYSHIA,” Abatan said. He also appealed to the government to consider organizing the outreach twice annually to better address the health challenges associated with aging.

Other beneficiaries echoed similar sentiments, praising the initiative for bringing much-needed healthcare to their doorstep and acknowledging the administration’s inclusive approach to governance.
