Southwest Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Alhaji Abdul-Rasheed Adebisi, Adeyemi Olopoeyan On Friday revealed that the party leaders in his state have no issue with the party at the national, including
the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Olopoeyan while addressing newsmen in Ibadan, said no crisis in NNPP and urged Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, the Founder/Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of NNPP not to use his position to disrupt the peace enjoining by all the party leaders and members.
In his explanation, the Ibadan-based politician advised Boniface not to interfere with the party process and respect the party constitution.
” I have been hearing a lot concerning our party NNPP, but to me, there is no issue, just that, the BoT chairman, Dr.
Boniface Aniebonam is trying to show how superior he is, but to me, such is not necessary, for the fact you are the founder of the party doesn’t mean you are the alpha and omega of the party.
” NNPP is a political party with a recognized constitution, all allegations and penalties leveled against any party member, stakeholders or candidate should be left for the national working committee to decide, even if the state working committee made any decision on such matters, there is still need for the NWC to ratify.
” If truly, Kwankwaso engaged in anti-party activities and associated with any candidates from other political parties, it is only the party in his state or nation can raise and deal with the issue and if Kwankwaso is found guilty, necessary steps should be taken, not the BoT chairman will instigate his loyalists and suspended chairmen in the party to carry out his wish at any time.
” BoT chairman has no constitutional right to suspend or reinstate any party member, stakeholder or candidate in the party, the current action of our party
BoT chairman might lead to an unresolvable crisis within the party.
” More so, the party crisis in some states, especially in Ogun state, is to be left for the NWC, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam issuing a letter addressed from the office of the founder of the party, instructing the NWC to reinstate the suspended member ridicules our party and its constitution. From my experience in politics, nothing like the” Office of the Founder”, neither PDP nor APC founders have ever made use of such an office, even the BoT office of a party or not recognized INEC is the sole umpire for political parties”.
” Here in Oyo state, we are solidly behind all the national party decisions we have no issue in the state, with the NWC or even the party national leader, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso. So, I will implore our party founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam stay calm and allow the supremacy of the party”, Olopoeyan stated.
