Olorisaoko Land Acquisition : Community Now Living In Fear – House Owners, Re-appeal To Oyo Lawmakers

House owners at the Olorisaoko community and its environs have again made appealed  to the Oyo State House of Assembly under the speakership of Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin on the need to help the community on the issue of land acquisition by the state government.

It will be recalls in last August that, residents of Olorisa-Oko community in Akinyele Local Government of Oyo State, led a protest to the state secretariat, Ibadan, urging Governor Seyi Makinde to reconsider its planned acquisition of hundreds of hectares of land for a new city called “Ilu Tuntun” district.

The residents bemoaned that no fewer than 50,000 residents spread across 23 communities from OlorisaOko to Onkoko were about to be rendered homeless if the state government goes ahead with its plan to acquire over 1,500 hectares of land for the district.

However, the Balee of OlorisaOko, Chief Olayiwola Oluyemi and House owners during a chat with the press explained that, the Oyo state House of Assembly had intervened, but yet to make any meaningful impact since they held a stakeeholders’ meeting with the community leaders.

Chief Oluyemi said “ the assembly had met with us on the matter but is yet to implement the report of resolutions at the stakeholders’ meeting.

Added that, Community is now living in fear as government officials are always sighted in the community.

Also speaking, a landlord, Mr. Wasiu Oluwayemisi said the Oyo State Assembly has assured them of fairness on the land acquisition, appealed to the government to come to their aid.
