It was a moment of joy and celebration at the Ibadan North-East Local Government Secretariat on Monday, as members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) organized a colourful birthday ceremony in honour of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo.
The well-attended event, held on November 10, 2025, brought together management staff, political functionaries, department heads, and workers to celebrate the Chairman for his exemplary leadership, humility, and unwavering dedication to service.
In her remarks, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Mrs. Omolara Aremu, described Hon. Akintayo as a “team leader and visionary administrator” whose leadership style continues to foster unity, efficiency, and effective service delivery within the council. She commended his open-door policy and consistent support for both management and staff.
Also speaking, the Acting Head of Local Government Administration, Ibadan East LCDA, Mr. Hakeem Ogunyejo, praised Hon. Akintayo for promoting harmony and collaboration between the Local Government and the LCDA. He described the Chairman as a peace-loving leader and bridge-builder whose inclusive leadership has enhanced mutual understanding across the two administrations.
The NULGE Chairman, Comrade Adeyemo Adekunle, in his goodwill message, lauded Hon. Akintayo for his steadfast commitment to staff welfare and for creating an enabling environment that enables workers to thrive. He noted that the union’s decision to celebrate him was a token of appreciation for his people-oriented governance and exemplary relationship with employees.
Several Heads of Departments and political functionaries also extolled the Chairman’s virtues, describing him as approachable, proactive, and dedicated to the overall development of the council.
In his response, Hon. Akintayo fondly called O mu Yes expressed profound gratitude to NULGE, the management team, political appointees, and the entire workforce for the honour bestowed on him. He described the gesture as a great motivation to continue serving with renewed zeal and dedication.
He also emphasized the importance of unity and synergy between political functionaries and career officers, noting that such cooperation remains vital to achieving sustainable development at the grassroots level.
Dignitaries at the event included the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Afolabi Olufemi; Councilors, Supervisors, and Special Assistants; the Acting HLGA of Ibadan East LCDA, Mr. Hakeem Ogunyejo; the Director of Education and Social Services, Mrs. Carolyne Fatumbi; the Director of Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Dawodu; and other Heads of Departments and Units.
The celebration featured goodwill messages, tributes, and moments of laughter, making it a memorable occasion in honour of a leader widely admired for his commitment to good governance and community development.
