“I’m a Teacher’s Child” — NNPP Guber Candidate Adedapo Pledges Support for Oyo Teachers

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Adebiyi Adedapo, has commended teachers across the state for their dedication and sacrifices, pledging improved welfare, professional development and stronger institutional support if elected governor.
Adedapo made the pledge in a statement issued on Monday to mark World Teachers’ Day, describing teachers as critical to the development of Oyo State and the future of Nigeria.

He said teachers play a vital role in educating children, shaping their character and preparing them to become responsible and productive members of society.
“As a teacher’s child, I understand the challenges and sacrifices that teachers face every day. I have seen the long hours, personal sacrifices, emotional demands, and difficult working conditions that often accompany the noble responsibility of educating our children,” he said.
According to him, teachers should not be left to shoulder the enormous responsibility of educating children without adequate welfare and institutional support.

“They deserve decent working conditions, fair remuneration, professional respect, and the tools required to deliver quality education,” Adedapo stated.

The NNPP candidate promised that, if elected, his administration would prioritise teachers’ welfare and professional development through measures designed to improve working conditions and strengthen capacity-building programmes.
“Our administration will pursue measures aimed at improving their working conditions, strengthening capacity-building programmes, and ensuring that teachers are treated as indispensable partners in the development of the state,” he said.
Adedapo also pledged greater recognition and reward for outstanding teachers, saying excellence in the teaching profession should be encouraged and rewarded.
“A teacher who performs excellently should be encouraged, rewarded, and given opportunities for career advancement,” he said.
He further promised to improve school infrastructure and provide essential teaching and learning materials to create safer and more supportive environments for teachers and students.
According to him, the welfare of teachers is directly linked to the quality of education in the state.
“When teachers are motivated, respected, and supported, they are better able to inspire students and help build the skilled, disciplined, and innovative workforce our state needs,” he said.
Adedapo also called on parents, communities, education administrators, traditional institutions and the private sector to contribute to efforts to strengthen the state’s education system.
“Building a better education system must be a collective responsibility,” he said.
The NNPP governorship candidate, while congratulating teachers on the occasion, expressed appreciation for their courage, commitment and sacrifices in shaping the next generation.
“On this Teachers’ Day, I salute every teacher in Oyo State for your courage, commitment, and sacrifice. As the NNPP governorship candidate, I promise to champion better welfare, more recognition, and stronger support for teachers,” he said.
“Together, we can create an education system that honours those who educate our children and secures a brighter future for Oyo State.”
