The Oyo State Police Command has announced a series of major breakthroughs in its ongoing operations against criminal activities across the state, including the interception of illegal firearms and the disturbing discovery of suspected human parts.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the successes were attributed to intensified intelligence-driven stop-and-search operations being carried out on highways and key transit points throughout the state.

On Thursday, September 18, 2025, at approximately 9:11 p.m., operatives from the Federal Highway Patrol unit intercepted a Toyota bus with registration number AFZ 933 XA at the Toll Gate section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered two locally-made single-barrel firearms, 20 live cartridges, and two brand-new stainless-steel machetes.

The driver, who failed to present a valid driver’s license or vehicle documentation, was taken into custody. The vehicle has since been impounded as investigations continue.

In a separate but equally alarming operation on Wednesday, September 17, police recovered a white Toyota Camry suspected to be stolen, bearing registration number LSD 957 JX, along the Ogbomoso-Iseyin Road.

More disturbingly, officers conducting routine checks on a white commercial bus (XA 551 IRG) discovered what appeared to be human flesh concealed in the hand luggage of one of the passengers. The case has been escalated for forensic analysis, and relevant authorities are currently investigating the origin of the remains and possible links to ritual practices or homicide.

Commenting on the developments, Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, commended the swift action of the officers involved and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks operating within the state.

“These back-to-back interceptions underscore the effectiveness of our proactive, intelligence-led strategy in disrupting criminal activity across Oyo State,” Haruna stated. He also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.

“The success of our operations depends significantly on community support and timely information,” the Commissioner added.

The Command reiterated its dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Oyo State as part of a broader crackdown on crime across the region.
