Ex-Oyo Commissioner Dies

A former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, Hon. Chief Ayoola Makanjuola Joe, popularly known as Makenson, has passed away.

Makanjuola reportedly died on Friday evening. He was an indigene of Ago-Are in Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State.

A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the late politician served as Chairman of Atisbo Local Government before his appointment as Commissioner for Youth and Sports during the administration of the late former Governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Throughout his political career, Makanjuola was widely respected for his dedication to public service, youth development, and grassroots governance. He was known for his commitment to community development and his close relationship with the people at the local level.

Beyond politics, the deceased was a revered traditional and community leader. He held notable chieftaincy titles, including Bobagunwa Aare of Ofiki Land and Odofin of Ago-Are, positions through which he contributed significantly to peace, unity, and development in his community.

His death has been described as a major loss to Oyo State, particularly Atisbo Local Government and the Ago-Are community, where he played key roles in both political and traditional affairs.

Details of burial arrangements are yet to be announced by the family.
