A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State and Supervisory Councillor for Works in Ido Local Government Area, Hon. Adedamola Olajide, popularly known as Elegant, has denied reports claiming that he resigned from the party.
Elegant, who is also an aspirant for the Oyo State House of Assembly seat, made the clarification in a statement made available to journalists on Friday, insisting that he remains a loyal member of the PDP.
The denial followed earlier reports alleging that the Ward 7 representative had dumped the ruling party amid ongoing political realignments in the state.
Reacting to the development, Elegant described the reports as false and unauthorized, stating that he never issued any resignation letter nor approved the publication of such claims on any platform.
“I did not resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and at no point did I authorize any news dissemination platform to publish such on my behalf,” he stated.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP and declared his continued support for Governor Seyi Makinde, whom he described as the apex leader of the party in Oyo State.
“I am still a full member of PDP and stand with Governor Seyi Makinde in the party. It is Governor Seyi Makinde who is our apex leader that will give directives for me if there will be any need to leave PDP for another party,” he added.
Elegant’s clarification comes amid growing speculation over possible defections by some political figures in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
