Council Chair, Akintayo Empowers Residents with Inclusive Adire Skill Acquisition Programme

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, has organized a comprehensive Adire skill acquisition programme for residents, with beneficiaries also receiving start-up materials to enable them establish their own businesses.
The initiative, which underscores the chairman’s commitment to inclusive governance, deliberately accommodated physically challenged persons, giving them equal opportunity to acquire marketable skills and attain economic independence.

The Adire training programme, centred on the indigenous Nigerian tie-and-dye textile craft, provided participants with hands-on technical training as well as the necessary tools and materials to commence income-generating activities immediately after completion.
Participants at the event expressed deep appreciation for Hon. Akintayo’s foresight and people-oriented leadership, offering prayers for his continued success in office. They described the programme as timely and impactful, particularly in addressing unemployment and poverty at the grassroots.
The initiative reflects the local government’s resolve to empower vulnerable groups and promote self-reliance among residents. By combining practical skills training with start-up support, the programme bridges a critical gap in community development, while also contributing to the preservation and promotion of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage in textile craftsmanship.
