Apero Mekunu Movement, Eleyele College of Nursing Partner on Youth Empowerment Initiative

The Apero Mekunu Movement is set to collaborate with the Eleyele College of Nursing and Midwifery, Ibadan, for a youth empowerment session scheduled to hold tomorrow, November 15, 2025.
The initiative brings together a civic-oriented youth movement and a reputable health institution renowned for producing skilled and compassionate nursing professionals. According to organisers, the collaboration is aimed at strengthening the capacity of young people to actively participate in nation-building, advocacy, and community development.
The empowerment session will centre on youth rights, civic responsibility, and the importance of amplifying young voices in shaping Nigeria’s future. The organisers noted that the message is particularly relevant to student nurses who are preparing for roles that directly impact public health and community wellbeing.
As future frontline caregivers, students of Eleyele College of Nursing engage closely with societal challenges, giving them firsthand insight into the struggles of everyday Nigerians. The Apero Mekunu Movement emphasised that this positions them as powerful agents of change whose voices are both necessary and influential.
During the programme, facilitators from the movement will address the importance of moving beyond awareness to taking meaningful action. Discussions will highlight the role of courage, responsibility, and intentional decision-making in driving positive change within communities. The session will also stress that transformative impact does not only emerge from government institutions or mass movements but often begins in classrooms, hospitals, and other local spaces where young people interact daily with society’s realities.

Organisers say the partnership underscores a shared commitment to nurturing confident, informed and proactive young citizens. The Apero Mekunu Movement expressed optimism that the engagement will inspire student nurses to embrace their roles not only as healthcare providers but also as advocates for societal progress.
The event is expected to feature interactive discussions, experience-sharing and practical guidance on civic engagement as the students continue their journey toward serving the nation.
