Rt. Hon. Mulikat Akande Adeola OFR; a consummated lawyer and astute politician was born on the 11th of November, 1960.
Educated at Saint Anne’s Primary School, Kaduna between 1966 and 1971, then Queen Amina College, Kaduna, Katshina College of Arts, Science and Technology Zaria, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and called to the Nigeria Bar in 1983.She also obtained her L.L.M from the University of Lagos in 1985.
She did her NYSC programme in Lagos, with the Nigeria-American Merchant Bank. After her NYSC, she worked with the Legal Firms of Kusamotu, Olojo and Company, and Odujirin and Adefulu both in Lagos.
She became the company Secretary/Legal to Tuns Farms and Agro-Industry Limited, Ikeja in 1987. She joined the Legal Department of Continental Merchant Bank Limited in 1988 as Assistant Manager and by 1992, she became the Legal Adviser, Corporate Banking division of the Bank.
She moved to CMB Homes Limited, a subsidiary of the Bank, as the Head of Legal and Administration and by 1993, was promoted to the position of Company Secretary/Legal Adviser of CMB Homes Limited.
She resuscitated her private legal firm of M.L. Akande and company in 1997 and managed it until 2007. She joined politics in 1999 through the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and was elected into the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Ogbomoso North/South/Oriire Federal Constituency. She is a member of ECOWAS Parliament from 2007 to 2015.
Rt. Hon. Mulikat Akande Adeola attended many professional and leadership courses in Nigeria and abroad, she is a member of many Professional Association including Nigerian Bar Association, International Federation of Women Lawyers(FIDA), and International Bar Association, Numerate and articulate, intuitive and persuasive, determined and dogged.
She combines and optimistically grounded in candor and humility, she exhibits kindness, magnanimity, and gratitude in her dealings with people as well as loyalty to the team. She was the first female House-Majority Leader. She is married with three children.
As a legislator, she has influenced and supported several people oriented bills and empowered a lot of Nigerians, especially her constituents in the areas of job creation, scholarships, and projects such as boreholes, school facilities and roads.
She is also the founder of Jokodolu Foundation International NGO catering for the less privileged ones in society. She had received many Local, State, National, and International Awards, among which was the prestigious award of OFR.
