Akintayo boost Ibadan North-east security with gadgets for voluntary police personnel


The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo (O Mu Yes), has strengthened grassroots security efforts with the distribution of security equipment and kits to members of the local government’s Voluntary Policing Staff.
The presentation, which took place on Friday, was part of the council administration’s commitment to improving the capacity and welfare of security personnel working to protect lives and property within the local government area.

Items distributed to the voluntary security operatives included jungle boots, security metal scanners, shockers, uniforms, whistles, and protective security vests, aimed at enhancing their effectiveness and safety while carrying out their responsibilities.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Akintayo reaffirmed that the security of residents and the protection of property remained a top priority of his administration.
He said the local government was making deliberate efforts to address security challenges at the grassroots level and create a peaceful and conducive environment for residents and businesses to thrive.
The chairman also offered prayers for the safe release of the abducted children and teachers in Oriire Local Government, while calling for continued support and cooperation among security stakeholders.

The presentation was attended by key security officials, including the Divisional Police Officer of Agugu Police Station, CSP Olubunmi Akanbi; Divisional Police Officer of Testing Ground Division, CSP Oyeyemi Oyeniyi, who presented the items and commended the chairman for his continued support to security agencies.
Others present were the Divisional Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, DSP Shotomi Felix; DSS Director, Ibadan North-East Local Government, Mrs. Risikat Giwa; officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service; representatives of the Operation Burst Office; and other security stakeholders.
Also in attendance were the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Olufemi Afolabi; Councillor in charge of Security, Hon. Lukman Owolabi; Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Omolara Aremu; Acting Head of Ibadan East LCDA, Mr. Hakeem Ogunyejo; Director of Administration and General Services, Mr. Kehinde Fashola; Director of Finance and Supplies, Mr. Ayodele Ejiade, among other government officials.
The initiative, according to the council, reflects the Akintayo-led administration’s resolve to strengthen the security architecture of Ibadan North-East Local Government and promote a safer environment for all residents.
