Dr. Akinteye, who disclosed this during a pre-convocation press briefing at the Rector’s Conference Room on Wednesday, described the event as a “historic moment” for the polytechnic, formerly The Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa.
According to him, the week-long ceremony will feature a rich line-up of activities that reflect the institution’s academic traditions, spiritual values, community spirit, and vision for the future.
The programme will begin with a Juma’at Service on Friday, August 22, followed by an interdenominational thanksgiving service on Sunday, August 24. An Exhibition of students’ innovations and creative works will run from August 27 to 28 at the Department of Arts and Industrial Design.

Later that evening, the institution will host a cocktail party for invited guests.
The grand finale will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the school’s sports field, with the Executive Governor of Oyo State and Visitor to the institution, Engr. Highlighting the institution’s achievements in recent years, Dr. Akinteye noted that AOPE was ranked the third-best polytechnic in Nigeria in 2024 by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). He added that the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) had accredited new programmes including Estate Management and Valuation, Marketing, Accountancy, Public Administration, and Fashion Design & Clothing Technology, among others.
He further commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration under the Omituntun 2.0 agenda for supporting the school’s infrastructural renewal, which includes new lecture halls, upgraded laboratories and workshops, and expanded ICT facilities.
“Our institution now operates a stable academic calendar, with students graduating on schedule and mobilized promptly for NYSC. This has boosted confidence among parents, students, and the public,” the Rector stated.
Dr. Akinteye expressed appreciation to the Governing Council led by Prof. Kazeem Adebiyi, the management, staff, and students for their contributions to the growth of the institution, while extending an open invitation to alumni, parents, and the public to join in celebrating the convocation.
