Ibadan North APC Aspirants Reject Purported Primary Election, Demand Fresh Process
A group of aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North Local Government has strongly condemned the purported conduct of a primary election in the constituency, describing the exercise as a complete charade that failed to meet the party’s constitutional requirements.

In a jointly signed communiqué issued on the day the alleged primary was scheduled to hold, the aspirants expressed deep disappointment and unequivocal objection to the process, citing the absence of a delegates’ congress, which is a prerequisite for the conduct of any valid primary election.
According to the statement, the aspirants declared that no official delegates’ congress took place to elect representatives, thereby rendering any subsequent exercise null and void.
“We categorically state that any purported primary election held without adherence to our party’s rules and procedures is illegitimate,” the communiqué read in part.
The aggrieved aspirants further revealed that the leadership of the APC in Ibadan North had similarly rejected the process, lending credence to their position and reinforcing their call for due process.

They called on the general public to disregard the outcome of the alleged primaries and urged the APC National Working Committee and other relevant organs of the party to urgently intervene.
“We call upon all stakeholders, including the National Working Committee and the leadership of the APC, to ensure that any future primary election is conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner,” the statement said.

While reiterating their commitment to the principles of internal democracy and the progress of the APC, the aspirants called for a credible, inclusive process that reflects the true will of party members in Ibadan North.
“We remain committed to the ideals of our party and the democratic process. We look forward to a swift resolution of this matter and the conduct of a credible primary election,” they concluded.
