Fatai Buhari Hails CCII’s Role in Preserving Ibadan Traditions
Senator Fatai Buhari, representing Oyo North Senatorial District, has applauded the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) for its steadfast dedication to preserving and promoting the cultural, economic, educational, and social development of Ibadanland.

The senator made the commendation in a statement issued on Friday while congratulating the CCII on the successful organization of the 2025 Ibadan Week celebration.
The annual festival, which began on May 8, is set to conclude on May 17 with a grand finale expected to attract dignitaries, cultural enthusiasts, and indigenes from across the country and the diaspora.
Sen. Buhari described the CCII’s efforts as a significant contribution to the preservation of Ibadan’s identity, traditions, and unity, particularly through its support for affiliated clubs and engagement with the youth.
“I commend the CCII for its exceptional role in promoting the cultural heritage of Ibadan and in uniting the people through purposeful activities. The Ibadan Week is not just a celebration; it is a reaffirmation of our shared history, values, and aspirations,” Buhari stated.

The Ibadan Festival serves as a platform to celebrate the rich cultural legacy of the ancient city, highlight the importance of traditional institutions—especially the Olubadan stool—and encourage youth participation in community building through culture and education.
Buhari emphasized the need for continued support of such cultural initiatives, noting that they play a vital role in nation-building, tourism promotion, and intergenerational knowledge transfer.

The 2025 edition of the Ibadan Week has featured a variety of events, including cultural displays, public lectures, youth forums, and community development projects, further reinforcing CCII’s role as a custodian of Ibadan’s heritage.
