Minimum Wage: Oyo NLC Reacts To Planned Strike
Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo state council has clarified that the state will not join in the planned strike as directed by the national headquarters
In a statement released by Oyo state NLC indicates that the committee set up with the state government is making favorable progress on the consequential adjustment on the eighty thousand naira new minimum wage announced by governor Makinde.
The statement explains that joining the strike would not allow the committee to get the table completed with needed endorsement for implementation within couple of days.
In an interview with Radio Nigeria, the chairman Nlc Oyo state council, Kayode Martins explained that the decision of the labour unions in the state has been made to the national body, noting that any state that want to embarked on strike are justified to do so
Mr Martins now implore workers and stakeholders in the state to remain calm while arrangement for a robust minimum wage table for Oyo state workers is concluded by the joint committee of the state government and the labour movement in the state
