Education : Makinde Follows Ajimobi’s Footsteps, Commissions Schools’ Governing Board

Oyo state government has commissioned a school governing board to monitor the affairs of schools in the state.

Members include stakeholders in the education sector and the old students association.

At the commissioning held at the University of Ibadan conference centre, Ibadan, Governor Seyi Makinde urged board members to ensure that the education sector regained its pride of place in the state.

The governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun.

The event had in attendance, chairmen and secretaries of the board across the state.

They described the decision of the state government as a step in the right direction and promised to give their best to improve the standard of education in Oyo state. ’’We are to see to the running of the school. We will make sure that the teachers are doing their job. If there are any lapses the board will see to it’’.

Among the chairmen is a former Director of News, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Elder Adenrele Ajisefini.

Elder Ajisefinni who is the chairman of Oloju Oro Grammar School, Ibadan, said’’ One of the duties of the governing board is to cooperate with principals and other staff of the school in order to move the schools forward. They are talking about infrastructure, when we get there we will know how to give the schools facelift’’.
