The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akinsola Akintayo, has called on members of the Igbo community in Oyo State to continue supporting the political direction of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), including the presidential aspiration of Governor Seyi Makinde and the governorship ambition of the party’s candidate, Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi.
Akintayo made the call during an engagement with members and stakeholders of the Oyo State Chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, where the Igbo community declared its support for Adekanmbi ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
The Ibadan North-East council boss urged the people to remain committed to the political direction of the APM and support its candidates across various elective positions.
He specifically highlighted the need for continued support for Makinde, Adekanmbi and other APM candidates, stressing the importance of unity, cooperation and collective participation in the political development of Oyo State.
The engagement, which brought together members and stakeholders of the Igbo community, also provided an avenue to strengthen the relationship between the Igbo community and the wider Oyo State population.
Speaking at the occasion, Adekanmbi assured the gathering that an administration under his leadership would promote inclusiveness and ensure that residents and communities from different backgrounds have a sense of belonging.
He emphasised the importance of unity, peaceful coexistence and equal participation in building a prosperous Oyo State.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo support for Adekanmbi comes as the APM governorship candidate continues consultations and engagements with communities and stakeholder groups across the state ahead of the 2027 election.
