Adeojo Determines To Curb Herders, Farmers Clash In Ido LG
The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has again emphasized his administration’s resolve to guide against the encroachment of farms by Fulani herdsmen within his domain in the name of grazing.

Hon. Sheriff Adeojo made the resolve while presiding over the March edition of the local government Peace and Security meeting in which the issue of farm encroachment and destruction of farm products by Fulani herdsmen top the security report by virtually all the security agencies for the second time in less than two months.
Ido council boss said proactive steps would be taken to avert what could result in a serious crisis between farmers and herdsmen.
He cited the anti-grazing law passed by the Oyo state ninth Assembly on October 25th, 2019 which prohibited open grazing in Oyo state by any person or group of persons.
The council chairman has therefore directed the setting up of a committee that will consist of security operatives, religious bodies, and the Community Development Council to see to the peaceful coexistence between the farmers and the herders within the local government jurisdiction.

The chairman charged the immigration officer to see to the inward and outward movement of non-Nigerian Fulanis; he promised to provide them additional mobility to ease the task.
During the meeting, a case of a village was cited where some set of Fulani herdsmen bought a plot of land and stylishly took over six acres of land before the intervention of the security operatives.

He used the occasion to advise those who inhabit or board vehicles outside the government-approved motor park to desist from such acts because of incessant cases of ritual killing and kidnapping.
