The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East local government area of Ibadan, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, has urged traders, market leaders and spare part dealers at the Agodi market, Ibadan, to join hands with the government to achieve success on the ongoing reconstruction of the Spare Parts Market.
Akintayo, who made the plea during his visit to the demolition site on Tuesday, noted that the government is poised for the development of the state.
Recall that the Oyo state government, in its ongoing effort to develop the state, is reconstructing some sections of the popular motor spare parts market in Ibadan.
Akintayo, while addressing the traders who are affected by the demolition, said the state government embarked on the demolition after a four-month prior noticed, a statement which was affirmed by the traders at the market.
According to him, the government has no intention of depriving residence from trading and provision for new shops will be made available for the affected traders with the market soon.
Responding to the Chairman’s remark, the traders expressed satisfaction on the development, pledging their full support.
The council chairman during his visit created a mutual link between the contractor handling the demolition at Spare Parts Market and the Market leaders.
Similarly, Akintayo used the opportunity to settle the long time rift between the Ibadan Spare Parts Market Leaders and the staff of the Oyo state Park Management System, urging both parties to continue to work to promote togetherness and the existing peace in the state.
Akintayo expressed optimism that the cooperation of all parties involved would lead to the successful and timely completion of the market’s reconstruction, which would benefit the entire Local Government.
While appreciating the state governor, His Excellency, governor Seyi Makinde for effort in state development and love for the masses, the chairman also acknowledged the understanding and cooperation of the leadership of Agodi Spare parts market.
Akintayo thereafter said his administration continues to prioritize infrastructure development as a means to uplift the state’s economy and improve the livelihoods of its people.
